Having one of those days again? Don’t worry, you are not the only one. There are many reasons for feeling down, and I’m not qualified to discuss any of them, their implications, or clinical treatment. What I can talk about are some things that have worked for me. There are lots of ways to boost your mood and they all are very individual. Try these ones out:
I know! You´re having one of those days where you simply want to hide under your blanket and hope all your problems would disappear. Or, you have a very important exam/meeting on your schedule and you think that going out would only be a loss of your precious time? Well, if you think your problem(s) through, never mind how urgently you have to do something, you can always manage to go for a 15-minute jog. The best thing about it: jogging reduces stress and increases your positive energy levels. Your renewed vigor and energy will help you manage your tasks and accomplish your goals more quickly. And…it will take you out of your “down” mood.
CATCH UP WITH YOUR FRIENDS
Again, you may think you have a “time-problem” and there is no way you can squeeze in a drink with a good friend? Well, you´re wrong! You can sit for days trying to think your problems through or preparing for your exam, but you need a break! And you should treat yourself with (at least) one drink with your friends, because whatever problem you may have, talking about it helps. It really does. And friends are there to refill your batteries, make sure to use them as a source J
TURN THE TV ON
This one is a very difficult one for me, because I´m one of those people who consider watching TV as the greatest waste of time. However, I have learned that we don’t have to (permanently) work on accomplishing great goals. Now I know that “being lazy” and watching my favorite series in the evening is just fine. And it helps me relax my mind, because I actually turn off the world around me when I watch my favorite ones. My current favorite: House of Cards. Any fans? It´s a great one and I it definitely boosts your mood and makes you forget about all your problems
