In the previous post I’ve given you a nice plan for the first three days in New York City. After you have seen the major attractions like the Lady Liberty and the Empire State Building, it’s time to proceed with an itinerary for day 4 and 5.
Day 4
1. Bryant Park and The New York Public Library
Is there a better start into the day then having a delicious breakfast in a beautiful park, sitting and savoring in the beautiful setting? For me, that’s a perfect morning. That’s why I recommend starting the day with a nice little breakfast at the beautiful Bryant Park. Take some delicious pastries at the Breads Bakery Kiosk which is located right in the park, on the corner between 42nd Street and the Avenue of the Americas.
When you’ve finished your breakfast, you can take the opportunity and look around the New York Public Library which is also located right at the park.
2. Grand Central Terminal
After the NY Public Library, I recommend checking out the neighborhood and taking a stroll to the famous Grand Central Terminal, since it’s within easy walking distance from the Bryant Park. The Grand Central Terminal is one of the world’s most visited tourist attractions and for me, it’s the most beautiful station I’ve ever been to.
If you’re in the mood for something sweet, then go to the Lower Level Dining Concourse and to the home of New York’s best cheesecake – Junior’s. I’m still dreaming of it, mmmmm.
Behind the Grand Central Terminal is the famous MetLife Building, so if you want to, you can check it out and take a stroll down the fancy Park Avenue. It’s such a beautiful neighborhood.
3. Macy’s
Enough sightseeing, now it’s time for a little shopping. You can go to Macy’s at the Herald Square, the “world’s largest department store”. I don’t know if it’s really the largest, but it’s huge and perfect for bargain hunting. I found a Marc Jabobs bag for 90 bucks and I’m still crying over it because I didn’t buy it. Please don’t ask why I was so dumb not to buy a Marc Jacobs bag for this price :D.
If you like, you can reach it by foot from the Grand Central Terminal. It’s about 20 minutes walking distance. Otherwise you can take the taxi, but I like exploring the city by foot, so I’d rather go for a little walk. Besides…you’ll need to burn those calories from the cheesecake :D.
4. The Times Square
Admittedly, not my favorite place in the city, because it’s so overcrowded with tourists and quite dirty, but let’s face it – going to New York without visiting the legendary Times Square is like you haven’t been in New York at all.
If you want to have dinner in the neighborhood, I can warmly recommend the Red Lobster, on 5 Times Square.
Day 5
1. Chelsea Market
A mecca for every foodie. At the Chelsea Market you’ll find everything your heart desires – pastries, gelatto, sushi, Thai cuisine, currywurst, just everything. My recommendation – the quinoa-salmon-salad at The Lobster Place. #yumminess
2. The Carrie Bradshaw House
A must-see for every Sex and the City fan. The house is located in West Village, on 64 Perry Street. It’s also within walking distance from the Chelsea Market. Unfortunately, when I was there, there was some reconstruction work going on, so I couldn’t take a nice picture of the building :(.
3. Magnolia Bakery
Since you’re already visiting Carrie Bradshaw, then , of course, you have to eat cupcakes like Carrie Bradshaw :). Where else than in the legendary Magnolia Bakery? Just turn the corner an there you’ll see it :).
4. Little Italy
In the evening I recommend exploring the cute and vivid neighborhood of Little Italy and then having a romantic dinner in one of the restaurants in the neighborhood; Well, not any restaurant. You must go to Sophia’s of Little Italy on 143 Mulberry Street where you’ll have the pizza if your life! OH MY GOD!!! The pizza there is perfection! TDF!!! Ever since I’ve had this pizza, I’m desperately looking everywhere for another one like this, but I still haven’t found it. Gotta go back to Little Italy!
Ok guys, this was a plan for the day 4 and 5. I hope you like it. If you’ve already visited some of these places, please share your impressions with me :). Stay tuned for the finale – the itinerary for day 6 and 7.
NYC is amazing!! I have been twice and still want to go back to experience all it has to offer. Great guide!
