How to: Color correcting with L’ORÉAL PARIS Infaillible Total Cover palette

When it comes to a beautiful, flawless complexion and make-up look, a good concealer is just inevitable. It covers pimples, redness, small wrinkles and instead of a greasy look it gives you a beautiful, dewy look. That’s why concealers also became a vital part of our daily make-up routine.

To be honest, until now we’ve played safe and used only the conventional concealers that matched our complexion. A green or purple concealer was a bit too reckless for us – or was it just because we didn’t know how to use the colors correctly. Since there’s currently a pretty strong hype about the color-correcting trend, we decided to give it a try and see what this technique really can do. Hence we took the L’Oréal Paris Infaillible Total Cover Palette to check it out and see what it can do about redness and greasy skin.

Color Correcting – How Does It Work?

The color correcting method is grounded on the theory of complementary colors (colors that neutralize one another)
  • Green covers redness, pimples or scratches
  • Purple conceals dark spots and shadows
  • Neutral Concealers hide little imperfections, dark areas and highlight
The L’Oréal Paris Infaillible Total Cover Palette offers the shades green, purple and 3 different shades of neutral.

Sara’s Little Troubles: Redness and Forehead Pimples

Color Correcting How To
Wie funktioniert Color Correcting

The morning after the party… red blemishes around the nose, on the cheeks, red pimples on the forehead. Bars filled with smoke, one or two glasses of wine and too little sleep take their toll on my complexion. The biggest problem is if that very day we have a shooting. As I already told you, I never retouch my skin in the pictures, so good covering make-up is essential for good pictures.

In order to conceal the redness, I use the green shade from the cover palette on my forehead, in the area around my nose and on the cheeks. For the dark circles under my eyes I use the lightest shade of neutral. The purple shade is called into action on my forehead just under the hairline. In order to contour and highlight the jawbones as well as to hide some blemishes, I used the neutral shades.

Now everything has to be blended in with the correcting blender and finished with a foundation. As you can see – no redness at all and the pic was not retouched.

Bottom line: Even though I was very skeptical because of the colors and rather played safe using the usual shades of concealers, I am really impressed by the whole color-correcting method – it’s not a current hype for nothing.

After the pregnancy, my skin has worsened significantly and I am not lying when I say that I have tried EVERYTHING. I mean everything! I use the violet color corrector to correct skin shadows and neutralise color differences. I put this concealer just under the hairline. In order to highlight my eye area and contour the jawbones, I use the second brightest shade of neutral. To reduce the oily t-zone, I use once again the neutral shades from the cover palette on my forehead, nose and chin. Using these concealers the skin is gently matted and contoured. To conceal the redness on my cheeks, I use the green concealer.

Once the color corrector is applied, everything has to be blended in with the correcting blender and finished with a foundation. I use a mix of two foundations just to match the perfect skin color. Then, I put on some make-up on my eyes and lips and voilà! A flawless complexion in no time.
