As many trends currently, the web belt isn’t something we’ve never seen before. Actually it is something probably everyone of us was wearing in the early 2000s (we were some pretty cool teenies in an Avril Lavigne stile back in the days :D). It is still has a buckle or rings in order to adjust it, however, there is a new interpretation of the trend – namely it got extra, extra long and you don’t tuck the long part around your waist. No, you let it hang down. Ever tried wearing it? If not, then you should definitely give it a try. We love it!
Today, we have 2 outfits to show you how we love to wear the extra long web belt.
The web belt as we know was either single- or multi-colored. Even national colors were THE thing back then. Now however, the web belt became a statement piece and in most cases there are brand statements and cool call outs. Event though Gosha Rubchinskiiy showed the extra long web belt on his show for fall 2015, the trend seems to get on the streets only now. At least here in Vienna, it got into the stores a short while and when it comes to the streets, it is on the come up.
HOW TO WEAR THE EXTRA LONG WEB BELT?
There are many ways to wear it and there are no limits to your creativity. However, here are the most popular ways to wear the belt:
As a usual belt on your pants
It was predictable that web belts would come back into style. However, the newest versions include brand call outs, like this one Timo is wearing form Diesel. In this case, a web belt is no longer a functional garment only, but rather a statement piece in industrial-looking yellow-black combo. You can combine the extra long belts in extremely different and extravagant ways.
Matching a long web belt with wider jeans that sit higher on the waist like Timo, you can work either with some tight tops you tuck-in or crop-tops/sweaters. For the colder days now, we would recommend a cool cropped sweater or a hoodie. Since Timo is wearing everything from SS18 collection of Diesel, her look is more summerly. Hoever, the pieces are going to be available in the stores beginning of march 2018.
I WAS WEARING:
*JACKET: DIESEL (SS18) // *JEANS: DIESEL (SS18) // TOP: ADIDAS // *SANDALS: DIESEL (SS18) // *BELT: DIESEL (SS18)
As a waist belt over a top or a dress
The cool thing about the extra long web belt is that is adjustable and doesn’t need to be wrapped around the waist. Hence it is perfect to emphasize your waist. There are countless possibilities to do it – over a dress, a t-shirt, a blazer, a blouse, even a hoodie. And that’s our favorite combination – an oversized hoodie and a web belt for the win!
Sara has combined an oversized hoodie by Alpha Industries with black skinny jeans, high heels and this super cool bomber jacket by Diesel (this one is unfortunately still not available in the stores, since it’s from the SS18 collection). As an additional detail she added the red Kasper Stripes Bag by Marina Hoermanseder for LUISAVIAROMA. How do you like the combination?
I WAS WEARING:
HOODIE: ALPHA INDUSTRIES // JACKET: DIESEL (SS18) // PANTS: ZARA // SHOES: ZARA // BELT: URBAN OUTFITTERS // BAG: LVR X MARINA HOERMANSEDER
