Breakfast…
Restaurant Coromandel
Address:
Via di Monte Giordano, 60/61
Why we liked it?
You have to at least stop by and have a look at the menu. The evening menu sounds a bit crazy and we are sure it’s just as amazing as breakfast. If you decide to have a breakfast here: go for the pancakes with chocolate and bananas. You won’t regret it. Note: make sure to make a reservation for dinner. For breakfast: You might be lucky and get a table. We were!
Escosazio – Juice & Organic Food
Address:
Via dei Banchi Vecchi, 135
Why we liked it?
Someone told me Italians never have breakfast and I was very much afraid I wouldn’t find any breakfast in Rome. Now I can tell you: don’t trust everything people tell you. I’m still not sure if Italians have breakfasts or not. However, I do know there are sooooo many breakfast cafes in Rome and you won’t stay hungry. Trust me and don’t worry!! Escosazio is one of them. It was directly next to our Airbnb and such a cute place to have a healthy breakfast. Don’t miss it.
Buddy Italian Restaurant Cafe
Address:
Corso Vittorio Emanuele II, 107a
Why we liked it?
Such a cute restaurant in Monti with a lovely menu. We happened to stop there just for a coffee, but really loved it. Interior is incredibly sweet. Everything on the menu sounded more than yummy. Will definitely visit for a meal next time we travel to Rome.
Lunch/Dinner…
Roscioli Caffé Pasticceria
Address:
Piazza Benedetto Cairoli, 16
The name sounds as if you’d only get coffee and cake here. Even when you step inside, it looks like this. However, if you take a closer look, you’ll discover a hidden, pretty dark room at the back where you can sit at one huge table with other guests and – believe it or not – get the best pasta you can imagine. O M G!!!! This freshly made pasta is to die for! Forget about the spaghetti you’ve eaten before. This is a whole another level! Even the bruschetta, which you can also see on the picture, is definitely not the bruschetta I’ve had.
Why we liked it?
- The food is just divine!
- The service is incredibly friendly and courteous. I was just served the dish which the woman next to me should have gotten. For me, that was no problem at all. However, only for this tiny little inconvenience, we got an appetizer on the house.
Prosciutteria Trastevere – Cantina Dei Papi
Address:
Via della Scala, 71
Why we liked it?
This place is a MUST! Incredibly Italian. We discovered it by pure accident and it was a jackpot. It’s actually a small eatery and the room is not very spacious. Visitors usually order a platter (you can choose between different ones) and a small bottle of wine. Note: its self-service. We had 2 small platters and the price was €5, – per. Loveeeeed it!!
Il Corallo
Address:
Via del Corallo, 10-11
Why we liked it?
Il Corallo is a very simple restaurant in Monti. Looking from the street, you wouldn’t be desperate to go inside. The interior looks a bit “boring”, but the food was amazing. It’s very old-fashioned Italian. Great pasta with fresh mushrooms and delicious wine. Great prices as well. Perfect for spontaneous visits, as well as bigger groups. Lots of big tables.
Indoor Foodmarket Termini
Address:
Via Giovanni Giolitti, 36
Why we liked it?
This rather new food market at the main train station in Rome is a perfect place to try different kinds of Italian food. We had the best pizza ever!!! Pasta, salads and ice cream all looked veeeery good. Make sure to visit. 🙂
Ice cream 🙂
Venchi Cioccolato e Gelato
Address:
Via della Croce 25/26
Venchi is a chain of ice cream shops and there is one even at the airport. I must admit, at the beginning I was a bit sceptical, because… you know… it’s a chain and it’s very touristy, but guys…. it’s just… I don’t know how to describe it. You must try for yourself 😀
Why we liked it?
It’s a paradise on earth which leaves nothing to be desired. Fancy ice cream creations you probably haven’t tried anywhere yet. I have no idea how many varieties of chocolate ice cream they have – from chocolate sorbet to milk chocolate. You can even dunk the ice cream cone into chocolate and cover it with coconut or hazelnuts :D. mmmmmmhhhhh…..
Gelateria La Romana
Address:
Via Cola di Rienzo, 2
Why we liked it?
We, (again) discovered this ice cream parlor by chance. We were actually heading to the famous Venchi, however, this place looked so cure we couldn’t resist. We thought: why not simply have two ice creams. 😀 And that was the right attitude. Otherwise, we would have missed this incredibly cute place with yummy ice cream varieties (…and cakes we only looked at). 😀 Next time: ice cream and cake. 😀
