Cosy velvet was THE cosy and soft fabric during the winter 2017, but a lighter alternative hat to be found for the spring and summer season. This is why velvet disappeared from the shelves and was replaced by the sparkling and noble satin. Besides the daring material trends in 2018, satin is an everyday alternative to vinyl and the transparency trend, which gives every wardrobe a touch of pomp and glory. The delicate, high-shine material resembles silk and is showing up everywhere, from feminine slip dresses, over to wide trousers and bomber jackets.
This shiny fabric was mostly associated with formal night-time-events and was rarely worn during the day, because some people consider it to be either “too dressy” or simply as “nightwear”. But these times are definitelly over. Satin is soft and pleasant to touch and is very well wearable in our “daily life”. When it comes to styling, this shiny fabric is very easy to combine if we consider just a few “rules”. Particularly when it comes to styling, we have to be careful, because a satin outfit can easily look too overdressed or somewhat cheap in some extreme cases. To avoid both, it´s always good to wear a casual contrast-piece with the satin-piece. The look appears absolutely harmonious and works for any daytime-date.
Personally, I’ve always been a huge fan of the noble fabric. I still remember the black satin trousers my mom wore as I was a child and how much I wished to wear them too. I couldn’t wait to grow up and “steal” them from her. Today, we have no idea where these wonderful trousers are, but I already have my own pair, which is very beautiful too. My trousers are not black like the ones my mom wore, but in a gentle pink color and in floral jacquard look.
Now, as I wanted to achieve a casual look, I combined a short black denim jacket and a white short top with the trousers. After the photo shooting, I went to an event, so the look was perfect for that occasion. For a more classy look I could also wear a blazer instead of the denim jacket, so these trousers are a real allrounder.
