Last year, we came up with the idea of celebrating our own Christmas party in a very special way. Now we see it as a tradition and just as the last year, we took a whole day off to spend some quality time together, to get lost in our favorite Viennese streets and to recall the past year. This time we teamed up with Canon and had therefore the opportunity to capture our favorite spots in the inner city with the DSLR EOS 200D. Our idea was to celebrate, do different things together and capture as many moments as possible. This is why we definitely needed one whole day, because otherwise, we would have missed way to many things :).
During our tour through the first district we used the Canon EOS 200D DSLR camera to capture the most wonderful moments we have experienced that day. We had three different lenses with us for taking different pictures in diverse situations. This camera is perfectly designed for all applications on the move or at home. The cam is not only extremely compact and easy to handle but also totally stylish and specially designed for connecting with smartphones and tablets.

Christmas Party a la Cosmopolitas: A Day in the Inner City
2017 was a great but also a very stressful year, which is why didn’t have enough time to do things we love that have nothing to do with work, especially during the last couple of months. Only too often we caught ourselves in conversations about our blog or work, even though we wanted to talk about everything else except work. This is mainly because we invest all of our heart and soul and a lot of energy into our blog and with every day we want to develop. This is why we have once again decided to spend a whole day together, do the things we love and celebrate Christmas and the great success in year 2017.
Our “little” Christmas party started already in the morning with a sumptuous brunch at Klyo, a relatively new spot in Vienna. The recently opened restaurant offers home-made delicacies that are not only fresh and delicious, but also healthy! The selection of the dishes is extensive, so it wasn’t easy to make a choice. Hence we opted for the highlights of the menu card – “The Green” and “The Smoked” fresh crusty bread; And just because we simply can’t say no to something sweet, we ordered some tasty pancakes on top of that :D.
After the perfect brunch, we took a nice and long walk through our wonderful city center. Every time we do this, we note how beautiful this city is. The first district is packed with breathtaking historical buildings and sights that are being visited by millions of tourists every year. As a local however, you unfortunately don’t take time to appreciate and enjoy the beauty of the city.
One of our favorite spots in Vienna is definitely the area around the State Opera. Just across this stunning building lies the probably most known hotel in Vienna – Hotel Sacher which is so beautifully decorated during the Christmas season. Basically, the whole first district is so beautifully decorated and gets you into the Christmas spirit :). We just love this time of the year.
After a long stroll, we decided to visit one of the most beautiful Christmas fairs in the city, namely the one at the famous St. Charles Church. There we enjoyed the classic Viennese christmas flair, the fantastic view and some cups of hot punch.
After the Christmas fair, we set off for our last experience and the highlight of the day – the dinner in the popular restaurant “Medusa”.
Since the day had begun with great food, so it should end with a great culinary experience! We had a scrumptious three-course meal: a taste plate with the best appetizers, a beef steak and the desert of our lives :D. It is called “Coconut” and you should definitely have it if you should ever have dinner at this restaurant.
Looking back, we can definitely say that our traditional Christmas Party has once again been a total success and we’ve enjoyed every minute to the fullest.
FACTS: CANON EOS 200D
As already mentioned, the Canon EOS 200D has accompanied us through the whole day. We wanted to test the camera along with three different lenses: the EF-S 18-55mm 1:4-5,6, the EF-S 24mm f/2.8 and the EF 50mm f/1.8 and see how it works for different motifs.
The Canon EOS 200D is a very stylish and extrem light DSLR camera, which has all of the advantages of a classic DSLR cam and the light weight and compactness of a DSLM. Since we always carry a cam everywhere we go, the light weight is a great advantage. That’s also why the cam is not only perfect for travel.
Another great feature is the vary-angle touch screen which enables focussing and taking pictures with just one touch on the screen.
We love to take our Instagram pictures also with the cam and post them directly after the shooting. Thanks to the Wi-Fi connectivity we can easily send the pictures directly to our smart phones and post them instantly.
As already mentioned, we’ve tested 3 different lenses for different motifs and one big advantage is that they are available for really fair prices.
We are more than sattisfied with the camera (as you’ll see on the pictures below) and here are some of the main advantages that can facilitate our work as bloggers:
- The compactness and the light weight – this enables for us to carry the cam in small bags
- Wi-Fi Connectivity – enables instant posting of pictures on Instagram
- Touch screen – enables a really quick adjustment of the picture settings
What we also really like is the design of the camera. We’ve got this beautiful, girly white version, but there is a black and a grey one too.
EF-S 18-55mm 1:4-5,6 Lens
Although this is a zoom lens, it stands out due to its light weight, which we also really like. It includes image stabilization and due to its focal range, it is possible to take different pictures.
When to Use This Lens
- Architecture and landscape photography
In our opinion, this lens is perfect for photographing architecture and landscape. You can take pictures of buildings without having to be far away from it. As you can see, we’ve taken a beautiful picture of the State Opera from a terrace right across the street, which would be impossible with a 50mm lens. Hence, this lens is perfect for travel.
Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 STM Lens
This lens is also perfect for on the go, since it’s really small and light weight. Have you noticed that somehow everything about this cam is extremely light weight? :D. Anyway, this lens differs significantly from the first one and we’ll explain now how and why. Also 50mm-lenses are the most popular ones among bloggers, and you’ll see why.
When to Use This Lens
- Portrait pictures
Imagine now the perfect portrait photography. Let us guess :D. The person in the foreground is pin sharp and the background is extremely blurred. Maybe there are a couple of sunrays of the sunset getting through the hair (but this is unfortunately not something you can control with your lens :D).
Now if this is a picture you imagine, then you need this lens. It is impossible to achieve this effect with the first lens. And this is why we need different lenses to get the pictures we imagine :).
As you can see on the pictures below, the bokeh (the blurred background) is just beautiful and this is something we love!!!! This is possible thanks to the wide aperture (the smaller the number behind the “f” – in this case it’s f/1.8, the more blurred the background is)
- Low-Light pictures
Thanks to the ultra-wide aperture, which allows more light to reach the sensor, this lens also enables taking great pictures in low light conditions. As we were at the Christmas fair, it was already dusk. With this lens we were able to take great pictures with blurred lights in the background. Also at the restaurant, where the only source of lights were dimmed lamps and candles, we managed to take pictures. In the city at night we also captured the beautiful Christmas lighting on some buildings.
Canon EF-S 24mm f/2.8 STM Lens
Among the 3 lenses, this pancake lens is the smallest and lightest one. Due to its wider focal length in comparison with the 50 mm lens, it is perfect for taking full-body shots and thanks to the pretty wide aperture it can also create a nice blurry background. Not as blur as with the 50mm lens, but you can see on the pictures below what it looks like :).
When to Use This Lens
- Street-Style Photography
The probably most important shot for every fashion blogger – the head-to-toe-look. This lense is just perfect for full-body shots. Thanks to the focal length, the photographer doesn’t need to be so far away from the person in front of the camera in order to take a picture. This is really important when you’re taking pictures in the crowded city, when the passengers could walk in front of the cam :D. Of course you could to this with the 18 – 50mm lens, but this one creates a nice blurry background which the first one doesn’t.
- Instagram-Evergreen: Flatlays at Restaurants
I guess there’s no Instagrammer who doesn’t take pictures at restaurants before eating the food :D. Now this lens is also perfect for creating beautiful, crisp flatlays of your table.
As a blogger, you often combine work and pleasure. So after a shooting you often go and enjoy a nice meal. With this lens you can take your outfit pics and beautiful flatlays of your lunch :).

Fotografieren ist eben nicht gleich fotografieren. So schön es ist die Kamera via Handy immer dabei zu haben, dennoch ist es einfach nicht vergleichbar mit einer richtigen. Und da mir die richtige fehlt, würde ich mir die von euch wünschen ???

Wir würden uns alle riesig freuen, keine Frage, aber ich würde gerne meine Mum überraschen. Sie war seit über 5 Jahren nicht mehr im Urlaub und ich wollte ihr einen Girls Trip nach Wien schenken ( das ist von München mit dem Zug super erreichbar ) und mit dieser Kamera könnte ich dann noch die schönsten Momente einfangen und anschließend zu einem Fotobuch machen, sodass sie es wirklich nie vergisst. Ích würde mich riesig über die Canon freuen!! Ich habe so einen miesen Fotoapparat (braucht ewig bis er ein Foto macht und die werden auch meistens nichts), dass ich immer öfter mit dem Handy fotografiere. Leider ist das auch nicht das Wahre. Wie, erstmal was für ein aufwendiger und schöner Beitrag mit tollen Fotos! ? Ihr habt mir die Entscheidung leicht gemacht, was für ein Objektiv ich als nächstes brauche: 24mm. Wusste nicht, dass es so perfekt für Fashion Shoots ist.
Die Kamera würde ich sehr gerne gewinnen, weil ich dann eine praktische, kleinere und vor allem leichte Kamera hätte, die ich einfach überall hin mitnehmen könnte. Bin gerade Ski fahren und habe meine unhandliche DSLR zu Hause gelassen. Schade um die entgangenen Fotos, aber mit der 200D wäre das kein Problem. ?

I am totally in love with these three girls & canon too(but could not afford it) & would really want to be able to take better results in my images for my future takes since i really love taking photos & i have my camera with me everyday (so i don’t miss the unforgettable & spontaneous shots) & since i know a camera is only an equipment, i have already used canon (from friends) & still amazed of how much it can absorb (from color to light) and honestly, i am now working hard too to be a photographer alongside with my foodblogging (@kleines.feines& my photographer website, which is online, but still in progress! ? )
I really wish i could win this too (since i never really won anything so big haha) but no joke, i love your blog girls & especially your instagram feed & pictures. So motivating to know that you are based in Vienna like me & so successful & so good in what you do! Keep it up!
